What should I expect from a consultation?
Your initial consultation will include a brief medical history and a physical assessment to understand and determine your goals of treatment.
The physical assessment will include postural assessment, range of movement of joints, special orthopedic testing and hands on treatment techniques.
A treatment plan will then be devised, detailing the hands on treatment to be used, corrective exercises and stretches and a timeline of follow up appointments needed.
What techniques do Myotherapists use?
- Massage (deep, remedial, light)
- Trigger Point Therapy
- Dry Needling
- Myofascial stretching
- Joint mobilization and Muscle EnergyTechnique (MET)
Will my health insurance cover my treatments for Myotherapy?
Yes. Depending on your health fund and type of cover you have. This will determine the rebate you receive from your health fund.
HICAPS is available at the clinic and for your convenience your rebate can be processed at time of payment.
As a courtesy, we do require that patients give us at least 12 hours notice via phone call (03 9822 1101) to cancel or change an appointment. A fee will be charged for those who neglect to do so or do not turn up to an appointment. Those patients that are late will also be charged the full consultation price, your understanding is appreciated (please do NOT use email to cancel appointments).
If you are ill (including cold or flu) please contact us as soon as possible to reschudule your appointment. Please respect that we treat a variety of patients and we appreciate your assistance in avoiding the spread of infection.
Can I buy a gift certificate?
Yes! Gift certificates are available. Please contact the clinic to discuss your options.
Do i need a referral to see a Myotherapist?
A medical referral is not required to see any of our practitioners.
What do i bring to a treatment?
If you have private health insurance please bring your membership card.
If you have any relevant test results (such as x-rays, ultrasounds, MRI, CT scans and reports) or a letter from your Medical Practitioner, please bring these with you.
What do i wear to an appointment?
Appropriate underwear and comfortable clothing is best. You may be required to remove items of clothing for our practitioners to examine and treat you.
Please do not wear jeans for a lower limb complaint, this including hip and lower back. Females, please avoid racer back bras for upper body treatments.If you have any concerns please talk to your practitioner.
When is payment processed?
Payment is due at the end of each consultation. A HICAPS machine is available for claiming private health fund benefits. We accept EFTPOS, Visa and Mastercard, cheque or cash payment.
